Abstract

Global presentation of Jucar river basin and the modernising efforts on irrigation activity. The film begins with a short presentation of the Jucar river used to produce electricity and drinkable water. But since the XIIIe century the principal use of Jucar waters is irrigation in the region of Valencia. Dams are located upstream and irrigated zones downstream. Dams regulate the flow even in summer when water demand is very important. More recently underground water is used to irrigate and structures need to be modernised.
